We asked you to send us nominations on great customer service from around Hamilton County and you did!  For individuals, we received nominations for Rachel from the Westfield Historical Society, Cheresa at the Hilton Garden Inn Carmel, Robert at the Springhill Suites Carmel and Britni from the Renaissance Indianapolis/North.  Our committee chose Britni as the winner because of what the person nominating her had to say: Britini-Renaissance

Britni is one of the most dependable, consistent, and friendly associates at the Renaissance Hotel.  Just recently, a guest took the time to send a letter to the GM, Paul O’Conner, to compliment Britni’s dedication to service.  The guest said his arrival experience with Britni was “wonderful!” He told Mr. O’Conner how Britni upgraded him to the Club Lounge floor.  To his surprise and delight, when he arrived to his room at 4pm, Britni had two of his favorite beers delivered to his room with Britni’s compliments.  Britni treats everyone likes VIP and is highly respected around the hotel.

For the business nominations, the 2009 U.S. Senior Open Championship Committee, Kelties Restaurant and Peterson’s Restaurant were nominated, with Peterson’s winning the award.

Petersons Staff

My husband & I wanted to celebrate our anniversary in a special way, so we went to Peterson’s Restaurant.  From the moment we walked in, the hostess, wait staff, management and chef treated us like royalty. The food was cooked perfectly and came out without any lag time.  As the staff walked by they greeted us with a “Happy Anniversary!” they also brought out a (free) chocolate fudge type of cake at the end – it was so good.  Overall, the ambiance, food and service made for a perfect Anniversary.

Thank you to those that made nominations. Congrats to both the winners and as well as all the nominees.  Excellent service is what makes Hamilton County, Indiana a great place to visit!

In June we posted about 8 Dishes WE Crave, which was inspired by an Indianapolis Monthly article.  Well, we all love food so much and we have so many unique Indiana dining options here that we couldn’t stop at 8 items – in fact, I think we’ll struggle to stop after this round.  Either way, below are 8 MORE Dishes that WE Crave.  Enjoy!

Pie in a Jar from Lisa's Pie Shop

Pie in a Jar from Lisa's Pie Shop

1.  Between the food, the tea and the experience, Ashley can’t select just 1 goodie from the Ruby Pear in Noblesville; “Something that I always enjoy is a trip to the Ruby Pear. From the delicious soups to the dainty sandwiches, their delicate lunches are always a treat. The real treat are the scones and fat rascal cookies, I personally LOVE the vanilla cookies. I usually save the chocolate covered strawberry for a later indulgence!” 1095 Conner Street, Noblesville, 317-770-8322

2.  Our intern, Emma, craves a fried delight from Sahm’s, “Although they are not technically a dish, Sahm’s carrot curls surpass any other crunchy, fried snack I have ever encountered.  They are light, crispy, and are dusted with just the right amount of salt.  Plus carrots are vegetables, so they are still good for you… Right?” 11590 Allisonville Road, Fishers, 317-842-1577

3. As a Christmas treat a few years ago, we gave away Pie in a Jar from Lisa’s Pie Shop. The Pie in a Jar was initially created as a way to salvage pies that weren’t perfect, and then they took off!  Both the sweet filling and crust are served in the jar and makes for an unforgettable surprise.  She has a variety of flavors; Apple, Apricot, Peach, Blueberry, Cherry, Strawberry Rhubarb and Black Raspberry – my favorite is the good old fashioned Apple.  YUM. 5995 S US Highway 31, Atlanta, 317-758-6944

Our intern Emma recently went a luncheon meeting at a local meeting place called The Fern of Westfield and had this to say about her experience:

“Interning at HCCVB has been an awesome experience, and yesterday’s luncheon meeting at The Fern in Westfield was definitely the so called “icing on the cake.”  The Fern is a lovely foursquare home in downtown Westfield that has been transformed into a meeting and event space.  Upon arriving, we were greeted by the proprietor, Jane.  She showed us around before the meeting and you can tell that she takes great pride in the home that was clearly restored with a lot of love and hard work.

Today I was reading through the 75 Dishes to Crave article in the June Indianapolis Monthly and found my mouth watering…  So many thingsNoble Coffee & Tea on the list sound absolutely amazing (#38…  #66…  #69…).  After reading #5 on the list I had to muster all of my self-control to NOT drive straight to Matteo’s on the Noblesville Square to devour a plate of “cream-drenched cheese-stuffed tortellini.”  YUM!

The article also made me think – what are some of the dishes in Hamilton County that I crave?  What about my co-workers?  We ARE the self proclaimed experts on all things food in Hamilton County’s 8 Great Towns and we have some unique, great local Indiana dining options here – so below is a list of 8 Dishes that WE Crave (thank you to Indianapolis Monthly for the great story – and the extra 5 pounds I will gain as a result):

1. For me, anything from “Happy Hour” at Kona Grill is what I crave.  At various times throughout the week you can eat sushi, pizzas, tacos and other appetizers at unbelievable prices ($3-$5, and drinks are also discounted).  The California Roll is my personal favorite, followed closely by the Margherita Pizza.  14395 Clay Terrace Blvd., Carmel, 566-1400

The staff at the Hamilton County, Indiana CVB classifies ourselves as “foodies.”  When we are not eating, we are talking about eating.  Heck, we sometimes talk about eating when we ARE eating.  We take our meals very seriously, so when a few of us decided to take our new intern, Danielle, to lunch we couldn’t decide where to go – and not because of a lack of options.  Do we walk to Bub’s Burgers in Carmel for the famous Big Ugly Burger?  Or to we drive to Noblesville for an All-American meal at the Hamilton Restaurant?  But what about filling up on chicken fingers dipped in honey mustard at Nickel Plate in Fishers?  We finally settled on going to Keltie’s in Westfield to try the Beggar’s Purse that our very own Karen Radcliff can not stop raving about.
