Today I was reading through the 75 Dishes to Crave article in the June Indianapolis Monthly and found my mouth watering…  So many thingsNoble Coffee & Tea on the list sound absolutely amazing (#38…  #66…  #69…).  After reading #5 on the list I had to muster all of my self-control to NOT drive straight to Matteo’s on the Noblesville Square to devour a plate of “cream-drenched cheese-stuffed tortellini.”  YUM!

The article also made me think – what are some of the dishes in Hamilton County that I crave?  What about my co-workers?  We ARE the self proclaimed experts on all things food in Hamilton County’s 8 Great Towns and we have some unique, great local Indiana dining options here – so below is a list of 8 Dishes that WE Crave (thank you to Indianapolis Monthly for the great story – and the extra 5 pounds I will gain as a result):

1. For me, anything from “Happy Hour” at Kona Grill is what I crave.  At various times throughout the week you can eat sushi, pizzas, tacos and other appetizers at unbelievable prices ($3-$5, and drinks are also discounted).  The California Roll is my personal favorite, followed closely by the Margherita Pizza.  14395 Clay Terrace Blvd., Carmel, 566-1400

This came to me through an email & I had to share the story:

Have you been to the Monon Center in Carmel yet?  If not – it is a must.  This past Saturday I took my 18 month old there, and my mom came along with us to help me keep an eye on my little guy.  We had a blast!  They have a wonderful baby pool, a baby slide, fun water toys and even a lazy river…  Easton & I clapped as my mom flew down the water slide, and we all splashed around for a few hours before it was time to go.  Easton was asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot!  – Sarah

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take a little trip in a piece of history.  I got to experience what air travel was like nearly 80 years ago…very cool.

Donna Prather, the vice president of the Hamilton County Tourism Commission and I drove out to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport in Fishers and climbed aboard a 1929 Ford Tri-Motor aircraft. The folks at the Experimental Aircraft Association were kind enough to allow us on their media flight.

Our Sales Manager, Kori, has really been out and about this summer!  On Tuesday of this week, she went to the Free Concert in Fishers, and had a great time:

For the summer, Tuesday nights feature a FREE concert at the Fishers Municipal Complex.  It is one of my favorite things to do because you can pack up a picnic or just a chair and hang out on the lawn while enjoying some great summer music.   I always go with my sister and my niece.  It is so much fun to watch my niece and a ton of other kids run around and safely play with other kids, toys, tricycles and bicycles.

This last Tuesday was the band Endless Summer and they were great.  Every week has themed music and Endless Summer pretty much played everything.  Most of the bands are cover bands, so you can relate to & sing along with the songs through out the evening.  Going to the concerts is a unique way to get out and do something enjoyable (and FREE!).  The Wednesday night summer series concerts are in Carmel and I have yet to attend one of those.  I have heard that they are fun- not as many kids, but tons of fun for the adults.

My family is going this summer for sure – and I will be sure to follow up with our experience.  These concerts are on Tuesday nights from 7 pm – 9 pm – and continue until July 28, so whether you are in town for business or pleasure – this is a great way to spend an evening.

The first time I visited the Simply Sweet Shoppe in the Carmel Arts & Design District was about a year ago.  At that time, one of the owners said “Every town needs a candy shop and that is what we want to give Carmel.”  I could not agree more!  However, The Simply Sweet Shoppe has taken the idea of a typical small town candy store to a whole other level.

I stopped in this morning and was immediately greeted by candy-filled glass pillars. Colorful jars of bubble gum, chocolates, jellybeans, gummy worms and lollipops rested on shelves.  Scoopers rested next to each container, ready to fill up bags with sweet treats (and there were a LOT of containers).  Specialty candy sat behind glass protectors.  There were pops of color with the pink, blue, yellow chairs, pictures and decorations.  Just above, but still connected to, the shop children were heard laughing and playing.  Tables & chairs were set up outside so people could sit and thoroughly enjoy their indulgence.
